What is a service booking advance / deposit QR used for?

Does this tool track whether the deposit has been refunded?

No. This tool only generates a payment QR for collecting the deposit at the time of booking. Recording that a deposit was received, and refunding it later (for example if a booking is cancelled or adjusted against the final bill), is a manual process the vendor must track themselves. This tool does not manage refund status or hold funds in escrow.

Is this different from a security deposit?

Yes. A booking deposit is typically collected by service businesses (salons, photographers, caterers, venues) to confirm a future appointment or event date. A security deposit is usually collected against property or equipment (e.g. a rental damage deposit) and refunded once the item or property is returned undamaged.
